Why Can’t Zion Be Built Up By the Sexually Impure?
Our title implies that a great many of us are under the false understanding that somehow, magically, Zion can be built up by people who are sexually impure. How can two such diametrically opposing realities be stirred together in the same bowl and poured into cake pans to be cooked by the Holy Spirit for our constant consumption? The words “contradiction” and “catachresis” capture the paradoxical absurdity of joining the concepts and reality of Zion with Babylon into one united order mix. A contradiction is a logical incongruity where two opposing natures are equated as white is black or good is the same as evil. The true prophet Isaiah (5:20) described our fallen nature religious tendency to join water and oil concepts together as:
“What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.” (New Living Translation)
“Woe [curses from God] to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” (New American Standard Bible)
The context for this chapter of Isaiah, as you well know, is the vineyard - watchtower – watchmen typology that is also elaborated in D&C 101:43-66. In this D&C expansion, the Lord joined the vineyard (the Work & Mormonism) with the parable of the Wheat and the Tares into a lucid description of the reality we live in today. What is the coming reward for people who are joining Zion and Sodom together or the wheat and the tares into one spirit filled congregation? What kind of a spirit is that? How do you reconcile “let them grow together” with “come out of her oh my people?” Why do you implore us to live united order and be one as though wheat and tares are capable of happily growing together? The devil controlled tares are always undermining the foundation and root structure of the pure wheat type people. How can you, in good conscience, assume that the tares have actually had their nature changed by complete repentance and manifest forgiveness directly from God, and are therefore worthy to even begin to be called cleansed and purified Saints? The people among us who are doing this ignorant amalgamation are having their roots so intermingled and intertwined that in their mature state they will indeed be indistinguishable from spiritually miscegenated at the great weeding time.
You know that this is a prophecy about us as a people and a nation. The PURE Spirit filled wheat are the remnant or survivors of the Lord’s people who do not genetically modify or bastardize the wheat into becoming part of the weeds. “Who has corrupted my vineyard?” The answer seems to be gaining more and more clarity that it is the Ten and your blind followers. Stop this calling evil – good or of God. Call a court and clear up this great contradiction that some wheat may even be left.
I would also sincerely recommend that each of you prayerfully study Isaiah chapter 5 in a couple of modern translations and “liken” the meaning and content to our group and to yourselves, personally, and allow the Word of the Lord to enter forcefully into your heart.
“O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths … Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge … [your] prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority [no supernatural power in their priesthood], and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?”
Let me be plain and to the point for my soul delights in plainness. Brothers, and to others who will be reading this, do you fathom the contradiction we are bombarded with every Sunday when one council member preaches the purity of Zion with his whole soul and at the same precise moment, his message is drowned out by the stark reality of the beastly nature of the man sitting next to him that is impure to the core – a sexually deviant abuser or women and children?
Historically “Zion is the Hebrew name for the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and was the seat of the first and second HOLY Temple. It is the MOST HOLY PLACE in the world for Jews, seen as the connection between God and humanity…. The form Tzion (Hebrew: ציון; Tiberian vocalization: Ṣiyyôn) appears 108 times in the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible), and once as HaTzion. It is spelled with a Tzadi and not Zayin … Yerushalayim is a plural, because THERE ARE 2 "Jerusalems" in Judaism [and Mormonism - the old and the new], there is the physical land and the spiritual spot where God's presence on Earth (Shechinah) [or the Power of the Holy Ghost] is centered.” Wikipedia
In the Mormon Scriptures (the Triple Combination), “Zion” is used 272 times more than twice what is used in the entire Bible. Zion is indeed a chief focus of the Restoration in these last days! I will briefly refer to only two specific scriptures to summarize and conclude my main points in this short letter.
“Inasmuch as my people build a house (OB) unto Me in the name of the Lord, and DO NOT suffer ANY UNCLEAN THING to come into it, that it be not DEFILED, my glory shall rest upon it; Yea, my presence shall be there, for I will come unto it, and all the PURE IN HEART [including the sexually pure] that shall come into it [if they haven’t allowed the sexual defilers to enter or take charge] shall SEE God … I will not come into unholy temples [or to an unholy or impure people who condone or cover wickedness] … Verily, thus saith the Lord, let Zion rejoice, for this is ZION – THE PURE IN HEART; therefore, let Zion rejoice, while all the wicked [wheat being ONE with tares] shall mourn.” (D&C 97:15-16, 21)
“The Lord called his people ZION, because they were of one heart and one mind [full of the Holy Ghost – see verse 27] and dwelt in righteousness; and there were no poor among them. And Enoch continued his preaching in righteousness unto the people of God. And it came to pass in his days, that he built a city that was called the City of HOLINESS, even ZION.” (Moses 7:18-19, 27)
Whenever we, by our example and preaching, allow putrid water to be added to pure water - the whole becomes corrupted and is not fit to be used on the Sacrament table and for other holy purposes. If we pretend we are doing this evil amalgamation in a vain attempt to “keep the Work alive, then, do we not appear to the Lord and His angels to be very foolish indeed?
Anyway that is one of the ideas that occurred to me during the Sacrament meeting on our beautiful first day of May.
